Formula and decision logic
For each permitted axis-aligned carton orientation, calculate cartons along the pallet length and width, available layers, and the lower of geometric, weight, and supplied-quantity limits.
Units and rounding
Package inputs can use cm/kg or in/lb; pallet examples and results are converted to cm/kg. Counts are whole cartons; automatic ties follow a fixed orientation order and require manual review.
